Is the free plan actually free, or a time-limited trial?
It's an ongoing R0/month plan, not a trial with an expiry date. You can run a small shop on it indefinitely. If you outgrow its product limit, Starter (R99/month) and Growth (R299/month) add more room and features — but there's no forced deadline to upgrade.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No. You can create your shop, add products, and connect PayFast without entering any card details.
What can't I do on the free plan?
The free plan caps how many products you can list and doesn't include a custom domain — your shop runs on a shopfront.chuply.com address. Discount codes, collections, a custom domain, and unlimited products are on the paid tiers.
Does ShopFront charge a fee on top of my sales even on the free plan?
No. Whichever plan you're on, ShopFront never adds its own transaction fee on top of your payment gateway's fee. Your gateway (PayFast, Ozow, Yoco, or SnapScan) charges its own standard rate either way — that part is unavoidable no matter which platform you use.
